What ProteinCV keeps, and what it doesn't
Your original CV is never stored. A Protected CV is kept until you delete it; one made as a guest is not kept.
We keep
- Your account: name, email and when you confirmed it, the profile URL you add (shown only to you), a new email while it waits for its link, a scrypt hash of your password, and your Notice defaults.
- If you protect a CV as a guest: the name you gave for the Notice and your IP address, so that one address holds only one guest at a time.
- A guest account, with its Protected CV record and IP address, is deleted 7 days after it was made, unless you confirm an email to keep it.
- Your skills Profile: the claims, the passages they quote, and your CV's text with contact details removed.
- Fit Reports you ran, with the requirements and your Persona's answers.
- For each Protected CV: the file, with your Notice in it, and its Manifest facts (Document ID, date, language, options, page counts), until you delete it. Only you can download it. For one made as a guest, only the Manifest facts.
We never keep
- The original PDF you upload. It is read in memory and discarded when the request ends.
- The file of a Protected CV made as a guest. It is held in memory only until its one download, for 10 minutes at most.
- The job descriptions you paste, beyond the requirements in the Fit Report.
Who else sees it
Building a Profile and testing your fit send your CV's text, your Profile and the job description to Anthropic's Claude, through the Anthropic API on this server's API key. Confirmation links, email-change links and the note that your email changed go to your addresses through this server's mail service. Nothing else leaves this server.
Deleting
Delete your Profile from your Profile page, your whole account from its edit page, and a Protected CV, with its file, from your Protected CVs page. Deleting the account removes everything above at once, except its email.
When you delete your account, we keep its email, marked deleted, and how many Protected CVs it made, so that signing up again with that email does not give a second Free CV.
